20 Ιουλ 2014 · The use of odd-time signatures, and frequently changing time signatures from measure to measure, came into popular Western music in the late 1800s and early 1900s through classical music pieces written by composers including Bela Bartok, Igor Stravinsky, and others.
Frequently, published editions were written in a specific time signature to visually signify the tempo for slow movements in symphonies, sonatas, and concerti. A perfectly consistent unusual metrical pattern may be notated in a more familiar time signature that does not correspond to it.
