Go to the IRS application you’d like to access. Sign in with your ID.me account and complete multi-factor authentication (MFA). If required, follow the prompts to provide any additional information. From the Authorize screen, review the information that the IRS will receive and then select Allow to consent to share that information with them.

Only those who receive a 5071C Letter should use the verification system. The letters are sent to you via U.S. mail.
27 Μαρ 2024 · As of January 29, 2023, for those taxpayers who receive a letter asking them to authenticate their identity and return information online, they can go into their online account, which will tell them they need to verify information on their tax return before it can be processed.
