The Channel Islands are on the French side of the English Channel, so the shortest ferry routes are from Saint-Malo. From the UK the ferries leave from Poole and Southampton. The Channel Islands also have three airports: Guernsey Airport, Jersey Airport and Alderney Airport.
It is connected to the North Sea through the Strait of Dover and is the busiest shipping area in the world.
