Spirit is awful. It’s the US equivalent of Ryanair and would pull the same shit like floating plans to charge for use of its toilets if the FAA would let it get away with it. Reply reply
Spirit is only bad when people book a no-frills flight and expect all the same benefits of other airlines they have flown. Be very aware of baggage policies, bring your own beverages/snacks on plane or expect to spend money, don't expect chairs to recline, and you will be fine.
From what I've heard, it's tolerable. What you need to be prepared for is if things go wrong--the plane breaks, the weather is bad, things like that. Spirit doesn't interline with other carriers, so they won't move you to another airline. Be aware of that, and you'll probably come through ok.
