University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED) is a university of medical sciences in Ondo City, Nigeria, owned by the Ondo State Government, established in 2015. It is the third specialized medical university in Africa and Nigeria's first specialized medical university to be accredited by the National Universities Commission .
University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex is a teaching health institution established on 7 th August, 2018 by the government of Ondo State with the tripod mandate of provision of clinical services, research and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical and health professionals.
The School is located at the Bolorunduro Campus of the University. It is the first stand-alone school of Public health in Nigeria. The mission is “to develop visionary and innovative leaders for evidence based health systems delivery to advance public health locally and globally”.
With effect from 22nd April, 2015, the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo has been recognized by the National Universities Commission as the 40th State University and the 139th University in Nigeria.
University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital Complex is also known as Unimed Teaching Hospital Complex Ondo state (UNIMEDTHC). The Unimed Teaching Hospital is a tri-complex healthcare facility located in the Medical Village, Ondo and Akure complexes.
