Children under the age of 18 are considered minors in Canada. They must follow the same rules to enter Canada as any other visitor. Minors who try to enter Canada without the proper documents, or who are with adults other than their parents or legal guardian(s), will be checked more closely.
Child fares and baggage. Your child's age at the date of departure for each flight on your journey determines whether they are eligible for an infant or child fare. Refer to the table below to check the applicable fare type depending on your child's age.
What age does my child have to be to qualify as an unaccompanied minor? The service is mandatory for children ages 5-12 traveling without an adult who is at least 16 years old. Children under 5 years of age must be accompanied by a Qatar Airways escort.
Bring the right identification to the airport to help with a quick identity verification and check-in process. Remember that the name on your identification must match the name on your airline ticket and boarding pass.
How much time should I allot at the airport? Qatar Airways recommends you check-in three hours before your departure time. The check-in counter closes one hour before departure, and the boarding gates close 20 minutes before departure. These times may vary depending on your departure airport.
