Lufenuron (brand name: Program®) is an insect growth regulator that controls flea infestations in dogs, cats, rabbits, and ferrets. It is frequently found in combination with other medications such as milbemycin and/or praziquantel (brand names: Sentinel®, Spectrum®).
Lufenuron is used to control flea infestations by preventing hatching of eggs. It has been used as part of flea control, often with other drugs that kill adult fleas. Lufenuron has been combined with milbemycin in formulations for small animals, and additional details may be found in the section on milbemycin.
