   The actual drive takes about 2 hours with a brief stop at Mirror Lakes (usually less wind early morning) but you also need to allow time to park at Milford and walk to the wharf, plus you want to arrive 20 minutes before your sailing time (use the loo etc), so yes, 2.5 hours would be right.
