If you have been licensed as an RN, LPN or LVN in another state or a U.S. Territory, you must arrange to have information verifying your license(s) provided to the NYSED. There are two methods for verifying your nursing license(s) license:
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) handles verification of licensure for a majority of states through their Nurse System (Nursys). You can check to see if the state(s) where you are licensed as a nurse participates by checking Nursys list or by calling them at 1-866-819-1700.
Nurse License Verification service enables nurses to verify their license(s) from a Nursys verification participating board when applying for endorsement into another state. Nurses can verify their licenses by completing the Nursys verification process for $30 per license type, per each board of nursing where the nurse is applying.
A licensee should be able to provide you with his or her license number upon request. Click on the "Search" button to begin your search. The screen will display the record of the individual who has been issued the license number you have entered for the profession you selected. Search by license number.
