20 Φεβ 2024 · Checked bag allowances. Changes to bag allowances and fees have been updated as of February 20, 2024. Travel within / between the U.S., Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands – 1st checked bag fee is $40 ($35 if you pay online) and the 2nd checked bag fee is $45.
You can pay for up to 3 checked bags (per person) before arriving at the airport. Multiple passengers traveling in the same reservation will need to select bags and check in at a kiosk together. Pay during check-in on aa.com or in the app if it’s available for your trip.

Transatlantic and transpacific flights All passengers (except those on basic economy fares) get one free bag for transatlantic and transpacific trips.
