21 Μαΐ 2024 · Your ALS journey is unique. Everyone hears this early on in their diagnosis, but it’s worth repeating. I went from completing a 70.3-mile half Ironman triathlon to walking with a cane (and slurred speech) in 6 months.
6 Μαΐ 2022 · My general practitioner offered a priority list of possible diagnoses: a mild stroke, a neurological issue, something ENT related, or something else. The head scan proved there was no stroke, a huge relief at the time. Because of the pandemic, getting an appointment with a neurologist was nearly impossible.
90% of the people diagnosed with ALS have no family history of ALS. 90% On average, they will live 2 to 5 years after being given this diagnosis. So this story, my story, is actually our story—because if ALS can affect anyone, curing it takes everyone.
