Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) was the former self-governing corporation that was entrusted with the task of administering the municipal affairs of Dhaka. The incorporated area was divided into several wards. [2]
There are 12 city corporations in Bangladesh. Two of them are present in the capital Dhaka. One each is present in the other 7 divisional cities, with 3 others.
There are eleven major cities in Bangladesh that are governed by twelve city corporations, which include Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Chattogram, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Barisal, Cumilla, Gazipur and Narayanganj.
Dhaka City Corporation With the birth of Pakistan in 1947, Dhaka became the capital of the new province of East Bengal. This elevation in the status of the city did not immediately alter the status of its local government, which was a municipality.
Internal Revenue Collection: The Power to levy and collect revenues is contained in the Dhaka City Corporation Ordinance (1983). The revenues are in the form of taxes, rates and fees whose amounts are established in their respective Model Tax Schedules.
