Morón was one of three major United States Air Force (USAF) Cold War airbases in Spain, the others being Zaragoza Air Base near Zaragoza and Torrejón Air Base near Madrid. Construction efforts began in 1953 under the direction of the United States Navy, taking over 3 years to complete.

20 Νοε 2019 · Due to increasing conflicts in Northern Africa, Spain has agreed for the U.S. Air Base Morón to be a permanent fixture for the foreseeable future. Spain agreed to at least 3,000 troops and an increase of 40 aircraft to be stationed at the Southern Spain military installation.
