18 Απρ 2005 · There is no sludge whatsoever but my lifters failed after 60k miles. at 80k, my water pump bearing failed, filling the engine with water, causing me to remove the heads and all gaskets. Cylinder bores showed no wear.
25 Ιουν 2009 · I was reading all of the bad press about the 1998-2003 Dodge Interpid 2.7 liter engines literally "blowing up" due to oil sludge buildup (Volkwagon and Toyota have had similar sludge buildup problems).

Heck, this may be an opertunity for you or someone else to build a turbo 2.7. Just have a set of custom pistons made to drop the compression ratio a little, have a set of custom cams made and possible connection rods then follow it ...
8 Μαρ 2007 · I have also seen 3.2/3.5 engines packed with sludge or squeky clean inside with well over 200K miles and running strong. The 3.2 engine I got for my car had 211,000 on it, and was very clean before I rebuilt it and installed in my car.
30 Απρ 2007 · Search the forums here and you'll get dozens of results relating to engine noise, sludge and general vehicle problems. Keep in mind you'll find more problems on here with the 2.7L than in say a chev or ford forum since this is where folks come in to discuss, and even solve any issues they may have.
17 Δεκ 2009 · 1. Sludge -- Sludge is caused by coolant leaking internally into the engine, from the water pump. The pump begins seeping, and being an internally mounted pump, it goes right into the oil, via the timing chain housing. Over time the coolant mixing with the oil causes the sludge.
