  1. 18 Απρ 2005 · There is no sludge whatsoever but my lifters failed after 60k miles. at 80k, my water pump bearing failed, filling the engine with water, causing me to remove the heads and all gaskets. Cylinder bores showed no wear.

I have used GTX 10W30 (although 5W30 was recommended) for about 70K at 5K OCI and then switched to Syntec 10W30 at 7.5K after I read about sludging issues.

  5. 17 Δεκ 2009 · Sludge -- Sludge is caused by coolant leaking internally into the engine, from the water pump. The pump begins seeping, and being an internally mounted pump, it goes right into the oil, via the timing chain housing.

  7. 26 Ιουν 2010 · For oil to disappear that fast, you’d pretty much have to have a leak. Consider using a full-synthetic oil in this engine—it will help eliminate the possibility of sludging. This engine has had a long time reputation for getting sludged up. I have a 1999 Dodge Intrepid with 109,000 miles.
