18 Απρ 2005 · There is no sludge whatsoever but my lifters failed after 60k miles. at 80k, my water pump bearing failed, filling the engine with water, causing me to remove the heads and all gaskets. Cylinder bores showed no wear.
6 Ιουν 2008 · I removed the oil filer cap (never noticed anything before but just got curious) and it was extremely clean without any varnish either. I have used GTX 10W30 (although 5W30 was recommended) for about 70K at 5K OCI and then switched to Syntec 10W30 at 7.5K after I read about sludging issues.

7 Ιουλ 2009 · you can probably find a used one at salvage yard, craigs list or ebay for a decent price. there's been some wrecked avengers listed. swapping the avenger 3.5L with 3.5L from charger/challenger with tranny would be cool. gain a few more ponies and then can get diablo tuner.
8 Μαρ 2007 · There is no engine I can think of with such a high failure rate...go on ebay and you'll find at least 5 LH cars at any give time with blown 2.7's. When Kias have a lower failure rate you know there's a problem.
10 Ιαν 2005 · Turn the water pump sprocket by hand (with chain removed). It should feel smooth with no wobble at all. Have the cylinder heads checked for flatness before putting money into this engine.
