18 Απρ 2005 · There is no sludge whatsoever but my lifters failed after 60k miles. at 80k, my water pump bearing failed, filling the engine with water, causing me to remove the heads and all gaskets. Cylinder bores showed no wear.
25 Ιουν 2009 · Have all the oil sludge buildup problems been fixed since 2003, or must I change oil every 3000 miles and use synthetic oil in this engine to prevent sludge build up? I usually use Mobil One, but I extend out the oil change intervals to around 5000 miles on my other vehicles.
10 Μαρ 2004 · Do the first oil change at around 2k. If you have the time, you should drop the oil pan, and clean it out. Also take off the oil pickup tube/screen and clean that out or even replace it.

30 Απρ 2007 · Sludge can happen with any engine. It's not only oil changes that are important, it's also flushing the system periodically to remove any contaminants! If you've never done that, then it's your fault. My service dealer asks me if they can flush the engine every 7th to 8th oil change, which is fine in my books.
28 Απρ 2011 · At some point, Chrysler made the water pump less problematic and sludge contributing. I want to say around '04. The water pump is an engineering nightmare. In spite of having to push around 2 tons of car, the 2.7s in the LX models (300, Magnum, Charger) seem to hold up pretty well sans sludge.
8 Μαρ 2007 · He loves the car, and never wants to get rid of it. I have also seen 3.2/3.5 engines packed with sludge or squeky clean inside with well over 200K miles and running strong. The 3.2 engine I got for my car had 211,000 on it, and was very clean before I rebuilt it and installed in my car.
