The Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe bought ten 4-6-4s (road number 3450 through 3459) from the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1927. Curiously, Santa Fe did not refer to these locomotives as Hudsons.

These locomotives, some of the fastest ever built, were designated to power the esteemed and swift regional Hiawatha services.

Chesapeake & Ohio 4-6-4 "Hudson" Locomotives in the USA. The Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad introduced a new type of locomotive to its road in 1941. This new locomotive was the 4-6-4 and eight of them were ordered from the Baldwin Locomotive Works. They had roller bearings on all axles.
