The Carpenter 1 Fire was a large wildfire on Mount Charleston, 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. The fire began on July 1, 2013, near Pahrump, Nevada, before spreading eastward. Carpenter 1 was seen for miles across the Las Vegas metropolitan area, and was the largest fire to occur on Mount Charleston in decades.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue provides fire service and emergency medical services to the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the second largest fire department in the state of Nevada after the Clark County Fire Department.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue is an I.S.O. Class One fire department. The department provides all fire suppression, prevention and education programs in the city as well as paramedic emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of the Las Vegas community.
All members of the unit are assigned to Fire Station 102 and are certified firefighters, police officers in the state of Nevada, fire investigators, FBI certified bomb techs and are deputized federal agents.
