3 Μαρ 2024 · In MS Word, you can quickly insert the half (½) symbol by typing 1/2 and then pressing the Spacebar or Enter. Word automatically converts it to a fraction symbol. And in MS Excel, you can quickly do same by typing 0 [space], then 1/4 in a cell to get the ½ fraction symbol.
Go to Insert > Symbol. Pick a symbol, or choose More Symbols. Scroll up or down to find the symbol you want to insert. Different font sets often have different symbols in them and the most commonly used symbols are in the Segoe UI Symbol font set. Use the Font selector above the symbol list to pick the font you want to browse through.
Depending on the type of document you are working on, sometimes all you need to type fractions is to use the forward slash symbol as the division line that separates the numerator and the denominator. 2/3 for example.
In the Insert > Symbol dialog, for any selected font, make sure the dropdown in the lower right corner says "Unicode (hex)", and then look in the dropdown in the upper right for the subset named "Number Forms". If it's in that list, selecting it will move the cursor to the first character of that subset that's in the font.
