Housing Services is responsible for the administration and funding of a variety of housing and homelessness programs that assist with the current and future housing needs of citizens in the Nipissing District.
A 2019 population forecast study identified that the City of North Bay would need an additional 350 housing units between 2021 and 2026 to meet the projected growth, which equals approximately 70 new housing units each year.
To apply for rent-geared-to-income and/or market housing please download and complete the form below, pick one up in person or request the form to be sent to you by calling 705-474-2151 Ext. 3742. On the application form, choose every building/unit for which you qualify and you are interested in.
In addition, to be eligible for rent-geared-to-income housing you must meet all of the following conditions: each member of the applicant household must be a Canadian Citizen, Landed Immigrant, refugee claimant; AND no household member owes money to any social housing provider in Ontario; AND
The proposed initiatives of the Housing Action Plan will incentivize the implementation of local actions that remove barriers to housing supply, accelerate the growth of supply, and support the development of communities that are aligned with housing as a right and the needs within North Bay.
