There are seven members of the airport authority board. Three are appointed by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, one by the Greensboro City Council, one by the High Point City Council, one by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, and one by the Winston-Salem City Council.
PTI is owned and operated by the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority. This airport is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a primary commercial service airport since it has over 10,000 passenger boardings (enplanements) per year.

The total revenue for the new budget is just under $41 million, with $34 million of that from operating revenue and $6.7 million from things like federal grants and investment income.
