I am going on vacation in 3 weeks with my wife and 2 young kids (2 and 4) for 5 days and was wondering what may be the ideal area to stay in Dubai. Downtown? By Dubai mall?
If you plan to spend a lot of time at the Dubai Mall/downtown area, stay closer. If you are going to be visiting a lot of different places all over Dubai, pick a central spot in your budget. If a view is important, that's one thing.
If you don’t care about the glitz and glamour, I recommend staying around Old Dubai, somewhere near the souks and the creek. It’s pretty pleasant, has some attractions and is more “authentic” then a lot of Dubai. It’s also quite cheap.
Stay in Downtown instead of Marina if you want to rely on the metro. As someone else said, metro closes shortly after midnight so for nightlife it doesn't have much use. Taxis are not expensive though.
Where to stay in Dubai? We are planning our first trip to Dubai in couple of months with our toddler. We are looking to stay in an Airbnb. We see two concentrated areas - near palm/Dubai marina and downtown Dubai.
DUBAI. Best service: Raffles - the service is just on another level, the staff is wonderful and the hotel has an ambience that wants you to stay for long. Best resort: Mid-range: Sofitel Palm Jumeirah Upper-range: Bulgari Resort. Best business hotel: Mid-range: Oberoi Dubai Upper-range: Four Seasons DIFC.
We’ll have 2 full days (very jet lagged days). From what I’m reading it sounds like Dubai Marina or Downtown are our best choices. The marina looks like a more interesting experience but downtown sounds more convenient (closer to the airport).
