In astronomy, stars have a variety of different stellar designations and names, including catalogue designations, current and historical proper names, and foreign language names. Only a tiny minority of known stars have proper names; all others have only designations from various catalogues or lists, or no identifier at all.
This is a very special number sequence, in computer programming it is known as the binary sequence because they are powers of two (y=2 x ). These numbers are the binary equivalent of 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000...etc in a base ten system.
The energy is carried by either radiation or convection, with the latter occurring in regions with steeper temperature gradients, higher opacity, or both. The main sequence is sometimes divided into upper and lower parts, based on the dominant process that a star uses to generate energy.
The majority of stars in the galaxy, including our Sun, Sirius and Alpha Centauri A and B are all main sequence stars. The Sun's relative longevity and stability have provided the conditions necessary for life to evolve here on Earth.

Magnitude sequence for stars starting with the brightest is -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 magnitude, ... etc. Star names come from Greek, Latin and Arabic origins. For example, Sirius and Capella are of Greek and Latin origns and Vega, Rigel, Aldebaran are Arabic derivations.
