Jericho was the place of rendezvous for Galilean pilgrims desiring to avoid Samaria, both in going to and in departing from Jerusalem, and it has been visited at all times by thousands of pilgrims, who go down from Jerusalem to bathe in the Jordan.
6 Νοε 2020 · The road from Jerusalem to Jericho is discussed in several biblical narratives. One of the more famous accounts (2 Sam 15.23–16.14) chronicles the story of David and his followers who escaped Jerusalem along this route after David’s son Absalom had declared himself king.
The historical Jesus would have walked the Jericho road on the final stretch from Galilee to Jerusalem through the Jordan Valley and across the Judean Desert. In ancient Israel, this important road was also the border between two tribes: the tribe of Judah (along the route and to the south of it), and that of Benjamin (north of the route).

This article is titled “Jericho to Jerusa-lem.” Why did Jesus tell a story about going the other way? Remember, Jerusalem represents God’s Government and Jericho represents man’s governments.
