21 Ιαν 2020 · Human X spermatozoa comprises 2.8% more genetic material (DNA) than Y spermatozoa; this difference is 3–4.2% between the X and Y spermatozoa of domestic livestock (Hendriksen et al., 1996).

3 Ιουν 2024 · Sperm carry an X or a Y chromosome, while the egg carries an X chromosome. If an XX pairing is typical for a biologically female offspring, then an XY pairing is typical for a biologically male offspring.
What is the difference between X and Y sperm? A man’s sperm contains either X chromosome or Y chromosome which called sexual chromosome. Although enormous sperms will be going to combine with egg but there is only one sperm can fertilize successfully.
11 Νοε 2021 · At present, flow cytometric sperm sorting based on X and Y sperm DNA differences has been confirmed as the most effective method, and its separation accuracy is more than 90% [28,29]. Based on the DNA content of X-CBS, which is 3.2% higher than that of Y-CBS in mice , the fluorescence signal of X-CBS is stronger than that of Y-CBS.
28 Νοε 2016 · There is a remote but theoretically plausible explanation indeed for the difference in speed, as the Y chromosome is much smaller and lighter and thus would make the Y spermatocytes less heavy than the X spermatocytes.
27 Αυγ 2020 · A January 2020 paper that “compiled our present knowledge to compare X and Y spermatozoa” found “negligible or no differences” in any area except genetic content. Y-sperm were neither faster nor shorter-lived than X-sperm.
The differences between X and Y spermatozoa (X and Y haploid cells) may exist in two areas: the different chromosomes (i.e. different kinds and numbers of genes) and the different sperm structures and functions (i.e. different genetic expression).
