After hours of research I eventually discovered they had been sent a link to my app in Facebook Messenger, clicked it and tried to login within the messengers webview; which obviously failed.

22 Σεπ 2021 · In the vast majority of cases, the Error: disallowed_useragent will occur because the Android or iOS app makes a login request that Google rejects. The most common reason for this rejection is an unauthorized browser agent (the app is using a deprecated browser agent that Google no longer accepts).

While trying to open or login to an iOS app, you may receive the following error message which prevents you from accessing the app. 403. That's an error. Disallowed_Useragent . This user-agent is not permitted to make an OAuth authorization request to Google as it classified as an embedded user-agent (also known as a web-view).
