After hours of research I eventually discovered they had been sent a link to my app in Facebook Messenger, clicked it and tried to login within the messengers webview; which obviously failed.
22 Σεπ 2021 · In the vast majority of cases, the Error: disallowed_useragent will occur because the Android or iOS app makes a login request that Google rejects. The most common reason for this rejection is an unauthorized browser agent (the app is using a deprecated browser agent that Google no longer accepts).

Disallowed_Useragent. This user-agent is not permitted to make an OAuth authorization request to Google as it classified as an embedded user-agent (also known as a web-view). Per our policy, only browsers are permitted to make authorization requests to Google.
