16 Αυγ 2016 · We treated a patient who had anaphylactic reaction after an intravenous injection of indigo carmine during radical retropubic prostatectomy. This reaction is not new and has been already reported. However, it is worthwhile being reported again to warn anesthesiologists, urologists, and gynecologists of life-threatening reaction by indigo carmine.

We report a case of severe hypotension after the administration of indigo carmine in a patient under general anesthesia with no significant epidural sympathectomy. Case Report. The patient was a 65-yr-old, 70-kg, ASA physical status III woman who was scheduled for an exploratory laparotomy for a pelvic mass.
