ITA Matrix gives correct live fares for most routes and airlines. It's just some airlines don't participate in the fare search engine or don't release live prices to ITA/Google Flights . Also, it might not pick up promotional fares available at airline sites.

ITA Matrix, along with other search engines, are a good tool for judging the cost of fares on different routes. That is what I use them for, but always go to the airline sites to book. Even on airline sites fares can change in the blink of an eye as fare buckets get sold out.

ITA matrix went downhill since the buyout by google. I regularly find that while it does still give you a lot, it misses out on many good itineraries. Plus of course it at times shows results based on fare classes that are already full.

When I call Delta to book, I give them the flight numbers, flight times, and carriers, and they quote me a price almost $200.00 more expensive. What gives? Report inappropriate content.
