ADMIN MOD. After 5 days, I finally bypassed Discord's Phone verification. Ok so 5 days ago I logged on to discord to see that I could not access my account without phone verification. I spent hours and hours looking for way to bypass it on reddit, YouTube...so on.
I've joined a discord server for a game and would like to participate with the community, but there's one thing concerning me. In order to type at all in the server, I must punch in my phone number. You must verify your identity by phone before you can send messages in this server.
While u/BloodveinDaedric is correct there are more reasons. Phone number verification is the strongest kind of verification, anyone can get an email and verify through that, however getting a valid phone number and then viewing the messages and verifying that it is yours is a bit harder.
The only person who sees your number is Discord (the company) and not the Discord server owner. That means that owner/admin/mods won't see your phone number or location. You can think of it like how server owners, etc... can't see your IP address. This is a bot providing a service.
If we ban a user that has tied their account(s) with phone number, will the new ban evasion account be checked against that number? Or do Discord bans by default work by banning/checking against all information available (phone number, then IP), regardless of server verification level?
Phone number verification https. Some servers require you to have a verified account via your phone number, I have never verified my discord account with my phone number so I go and do it.
You probably use Whatsapp, where you are literally required to give up your phone number so they can verify it by sending an SMS message. Discord will not publish your private data without any reason since that is against their own Terms of Service / Privacy Policy.
