8 Φεβ 2023 · Systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) causes the body to destroy healthy tissue. It can change the appearance and texture of your skin and affect other organs in your body.
Some people develop 1 or 2 patches of hard, thick skin. Others have widespread patches on their body. The hard, thick skin can feel anchored in place. If you have morphea (more-fee-uh), the most common type of scleroderma, the patches may not feel too hard. In time, the hardened skin may soften.

15 Ιουν 2024 · Nearly everyone who has scleroderma experiences hardening and tightening of the skin. The first parts of the body to be affected are usually the fingers, hands, feet and face. In some people, the skin thickening also can involve the forearms, upper arms, chest, abdomen, lower legs and thighs.
Three Types of Systemic Sclerosis (Scleroderma): Limited, Diffuse and Sine. Systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) affects the skin as well as what’s underneath, such as blood vessels, muscles and joints, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, kidneys, lungs and heart.
Skin hardening in patients who have a lot of scleroderma on their skin: A type of phototherapy called PUVA can reduce this. When using this type of phototherapy, you take a medicine called psoralen before getting UVA treatment. Visible blood vessels: Laser therapy can help get rid of or reduce these.
