GEC-1 Mathematics in the Modern World. Course Description: This course deals with nature of mathematics, appreciation of its practical, intellectual, and aesthetic dimensions and application of mathematical tools in daily life.
Mathematics is the study of patterns and structure. It is a useful tool for understanding nature and predicting phenomena in the world. Mathematics helps organize many natural patterns, including the movement of stars and weather cycles, patterns on animals, and fractal shapes found throughout nature.
Section 1 is composed of the following: 1 Mathematics in our World; 1. Mathematics Language and Symbols; and 1 Problem Solving and Reasoning.
Mathematics in the Modern World - CHED
Identify the patterns in nature and regularities in the world; Articulate the importance of mathematics in one’s life. Argue about the nature of mathematics, what it is, how it is expressed, represented, and used. Express appreciation for mathematics as a human endeavor.
Students will learn about famous mathematicians, problem solving, reasoning, data management, geometric designs, codes, linear programming, finance, apportionment, voting, logic, graphs, and mathematical systems. Assessment includes a midterm and final exam. The instructor is Zandro G. Ebio.
