Technically, this was classified as an accident due to the damage to the aircraft. The South West incident resulted in no injuries and was caused by a failure of a backup rudder power control unit. After the crew recovered control, they flew on fir 55 minutes before landing safely.

SW flight from Atlanta to Tampa last night. There was ONE man in a wheelchair for pre-boarding surrounded by at least 10 others (all wearing matching purple shirts - it looked like they were coming from a college/fraternity reunion).
We have out tomorrow and have to switch planes about 2/3 of the way there. How does that work for checking in 24 hours before the flight? Do you just check in once or do you have to check in twice? (2 separate boarding passes?). Sorry if this is a dumb question, first time switching panes with Southwest.
