Checked baggage basics. Each Customer is allowed two free checked bags 1. Golf bags 2 and skis 3 count toward your free checked bag if they are within the weight limit. Check your bags digitally ahead of time, or, at the airport, check your bags using our self-tagging kiosks (where available) or with a friendly Southwest ® agent.

Checked baggage will be screened and is subject to physical inspection as mandated by the TSA. Customers may be required to present identification. Name labels are available at Southwest Airlines ticket counters.
If any portion of your itinerary contains an international flight, you must check luggage at the ticket counter. If your itinerary for travel into the United States includes a connection, you must claim all luggage, regardless of final destination, upon arrival in the U.S.
