USS Vancouver (LPD-2) was a Raleigh -class amphibious transport dock, named after the city of Vancouver, Washington, which was in turn named after the famous north-west explorer George Vancouver. Vancouver's was commissioned 11 May 1963 and served during the Vietnam War and 1991 Gulf War.

She's only appeared in one episode, yet this class has already become one of my absolute favourite Trek starships - she just feels like a really sturdy, effective platform for lots of different kinds of work, and those beautiful big impulse engines look like they have some real heft and power to them!
The USS Vancouver appears in LOW: "Cupid's Errant Arrow", where the illustrious ship literally overshadows the USS Cerritos. Another ship of the class can be seen at the end of "First First Contact". The USS Toronto appears in "Parth Ferengi's Heart Place".
