Located in central Savannah, the Visitors Center is the place to begin exploring Savannah. In a nicely preserved building, there is lots of information available to fashion your trip. Most importantly, this is the best area to pick up on of the several trolly tours, which provide a good overview of the city.
The Chamber of Commerce has several visitor centers in Savannah. From the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to the Historic District and even out to Tybee Island, there are centers with all kinds of brochures, maps and magazines, such as Savannah Scene, to guide you around the city.
If you're visiting Savannah for the first time, the amount of things to do can be quite overwhelming! But don't worry, this list is the perfect combination of quaint, quirky, historic and modern. These Savannah must-dos will give you the well-rounded experience you're looking for.
Savannah Visitors Center. 301 Martin Luther King Blvd. Savannah, GA 31401. (912) 944-0455. Hours: 8:30a - 5:00p Monday-Friday. 9:00a - 5:00p Saturday & Sunday. The Visitor's Center is located at 301 on Martin Luther King Blvd. and is a recommended first stop for visitors.
The Visitor Center is at the same location as the GA State RR Museum and the Savannah History Museum (see separate reviews for those). Each of those museums and the Whistle Stop Cafe may occupy enough time that you save the rest of Savannah for another day.
