About 1.8 million people receive benefits through SNAP in the city. SNAP is funded by the federal government but is administered by the county, or in our case, New York City.

Modeled after the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), which provided benefits to eligible children whose schools were closed due to COVID-19, Summer EBT will provide a $120 benefit, per eligible child, to supplement the loss of free school meals during the summer months.
