Here’s a few examples of notes placed within the 2/4 time signature. Practice counting and clapping/tapping a few of these exercises. You are well on your way to understanding how time signatures work!
The top number is 2 which tells you that there are two beats in each bar. The bottom number is 4, which tells you that you are counting crotchets, or quarter notes. This time signature is called SIMPLE TRIPLE. Simple because the beats that we are counting are made of plain, undotted notes.
24 Ιαν 2024 · The time signature or meter 2/4 is show in the music as a 2 above a 4. This comes before the music starts but after the clef and key signature. The ‘2’ stands for 2 beats per measure and the ‘4’ tells us that each beat is a quarter note.

Reading Macrobeats and Microbeats in 2/4. The time signature 2/4 usually tells us that the macrobeats (DU) will be represented by a quarter note, and that microbeats (DU DE) will be represented by paired eighth notes.
