Cacela Velha (meaning "Old Cacela" in Portuguese) is a village located in the civil parish of Vila Nova de Cacela, municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, Algarve, Portugal. Cacela Velha is situated on top of a hill with a view to the easternmost lagoon of the Ria Formosa .
Cacela Velha is a small and unique historical complex, with a roughly circular perimeter, bordered to the south by a fortress and to the east and west by the parish cemetery, overlooking the Ria Formosa. Archaeological excavations have identified an occupation from the end of the Almohad period.

This place full of history and poets was invited by UNESCO to join the indicative list of candidates for World Heritage.
