6 Οκτ 2014 · I have seen the best results with heavy OTMs like 77gr SMKs with a velocity 2550-2650. 1:8 is a great twist. It will stabilize any bullet 77gr and under. You might be able to shoot some 80's.
20 Σεπ 2018 · It is absolutely true that heavier, longer bullets in the 69-85 grain flavors like faster rifle twists of 1:8, or 1:7. When someone tells you, “if you want to shoot some operator level Mk262 77 grain OTM ammo, you need a 1:7 twist”, believe that they have your best interest at heart.
9 Μαΐ 2019 · I get amazing results with 52/53 grain match bullets from any twist barrel. 1/7 twist barrels do not "over stabilize" lightweight bullets, they stabilize them more than necessary. Big difference. 68/69 grain bullets shoot very well from 1/7, 1/8 and 1/9 barrels. 75/77 grain bullets can shoot well from some 1/9's, some 1/9's won't shoot them at all.
Barrels with this twist rate can work well with most ammo, offering sufficient stability to 70 to 90-grain bullets and preventing overspin in light rounds. While 1:8 twist rate barrels can fire most slugs with adequate accuracy, the best results occur when firing 60 to 80-grain bullets.

2 Μαρ 2017 · Most modern AR-15 barrels will come in three twist rates: 1:9, 1:8, and 1:7. The 1:9 barrel is best for stabilizing lighter and mid-weight bullets between 45 and 77 grains. AR-15 barrels will have the specifications stamped or engraved somewhere on the barrel, like these Windham Weaponry models.
The best accuracy for a 1:9 twist is found with 40-grain to 62-grain copper projectiles. 1:8 Twist Like the 1:9, this twist rate also works best in short barrels between 14 and 18 inches.
