  1. 78 votes, 34 comments. Lately, it feels like finding affordable airfare is like searching for a needle in a haystack. I was recently shocked to see…

  2. I like Free Download Manager for being lightweight, multiplatform and dark, although it's proprietary and still doesn't support pasting multiple links at once.

  3. How to get Free Flights. I wanted to share my CC points strategy with the community. I've been fortunate to be able to fly across the world for free the last few years with this simple strategy (Europe, Asia, Africa). I've always found the biggest limitation/expense for global travel to be the cost of the flights.

  4. Overall, I'd recommend just trying to get a little creative with how you come and go. For example, check to see if it's cheaper to book two one-ways, especially if a little driving is involved. See if there's a train or a bus route that makes sense.

  5. The more flexable you are the better the deals you can find. Google flights and then use points and miles to look for availability on those flights. Easier to do with points already accumulated and flexibility in dates. Great for non peak season travel, less than 4 weeks away or more than 10 months.

  6. Finding cheap flights is more about how early you book, when you plan the trip (be flexible), and how trafficked are the airports (bigger airports are usually cheaper). I like Google Flight + Kayak Map for getting general ideas about what destinations may be cheap when I have no specific destination in mind.

  7. I've used skiplagged to book cheaper flights even without the hidden city. They are good at exploring all the combinations with layovers and allow you to see price options for one way that are normally locked in a round trip deal when directly from the airline.
