The Pretrial Services Act was enacted to provide more effective protection of society by establishing pretrial services agencies to assist judicial officers in discharging their duties related to determining pretrial release and detention.
Reforms in pre-court services in the Virginia Commonwealth have led to safer streets, a transparent legal system, and accountability to the community’s investments. With success levels up to 97%, defendants who comply with pre-court services are benefiting from the Bail Clause of the 8th Amendment.
