USS Coral Sea (CV/CVB/CVA-43), a Midway-class aircraft carrier, was the third ship of the United States Navy to be named for the Battle of the Coral Sea. She earned the affectionate nickname " Ageless Warrior " through her long career.
The USS CORAL SEA was decommissioned and stricken from the Navy list on April 30, 1990, after more than 42 years of service. The ship was sold for scrap on May 7, 1993, making the CORAL SEA the largest warship ever scrapped. General Characteristics: Awarded: June 14, 1943. Keel laid: July 10, 1944.
