I've been fortunate to be able to fly across the world for free the last few years with this simple strategy (Europe, Asia, Africa). I've always found the biggest limitation/expense for global travel to be the cost of the flights.
While it would be tight, you could try getting some travel miles or get a card with a cashback sign-on bonus. Several cards are low or zero annual fees but could (realistically) take off about $200. I know that's not much, but it does help.
Set up flight alerts on Sky scanner, Scott’s cheap flights and Airfare watchdog. Book and fly mid week for better deals, historically. Think about getting a credit card that accumulates miles, mileage plus w United is my go to, but if you fly southwest more they have one as well.
