2 Μαΐ 2016 · Welcome to The Indigo Book—a free, Creative Commons-dedicated implementation of The Bluebook’s Uniform System of Citation. The Indigo Book was compiled by a team of students at the New York University School of Law, working under the direction of Professor Christopher Jon Sprigman.
The second edition of The Indigo Book was compiled by Professor Jennifer Murphy Romig with assistance from students at the Emory University School of Law, and published in beta form in 2021, with a final edition released in 2022.

The Maroonbook. The University of Chicago Manual of Legal Citation (or the " Maroonbook ") is the official citation guide of The University of Chicago Law Review and has been used by other journals. The first edition of the Maroonbook was a response to cries for a simpler system of legal citation.
Even at the powerfully attractive price point of free, The Indigo Book will run up against the dependence of most citation discourse within America’s law schools, student-edited journals, and large firms on The Bluebook’s classificatory scheme and specific language.
The IndigoBook is a free and open statement of the “Bluebook” rules that are commonly applied to US legal resources. The first (and current) edition is the creation Christopher Sprigman and a team of students at New York University, published by Carl Malamud at PublicResource.org .
