The Secretary of State may appoint and commission a notary public if the applicant meets the required qualifications. In order for a person to qualify, be appointed, and commissioned as a notary public, the person must be 18 years of age or older and must satisfy one of the following requirements:

You must be commissioned as a "traditional" Ohio Notary Public or in the process of becoming one in order to be authorized as an Ohio Online Notary Public. The Secretary of State is NOT able to approve your application to be an Online Notary Public until you are also a "traditional" notary.
