Aaliyah Dana Haughton (/ ɑː ˈ l iː ə / ah-LEE-ə; January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001), known as Aaliyah, was an American singer and actress. She has been credited with helping to redefine contemporary R&B, pop, and hip hop, earning her the nicknames the "Princess of R&B" and "Queen of Urban Pop".
Aaliyah was an American singer, best known for her debut album ‘Age Ain't Nothing but a Number’ which sold three million copies in the United States. Her second album was also a resounding success and she soon became one of the hottest youth icons of the 1990s.

The self-titled album Aaliyah, released in July 2001, debuted at number 2 on the US charts and sold over 2.4 million albums worldwide. Aaliyah featured the smash singles “We Need a Resolution,” “More Than A Woman,” and “Rock The Boat”.
