The Southwestern United States, also known as the American Southwest or simply the Southwest, is a geographic and cultural region of the United States that includes Arizona and New Mexico, along with adjacent portions of California, Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.

Introduction. The Southwest is a region of the United States. Definitions of the area vary. However, it is generally considered to include the states of New Mexico and Arizona and all or parts of Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Texas. Texas and Oklahoma are also part of the U.S. region called the South.
