28 Δεκ 2006 · String.Format is bit more effective than concatenating strings using ToString and the + operator. Every time you use the + to concatenate 2 strings, the runtime has to allocate a new string and copy the two strings into that.
Among these are String.Format, String.StartsWith and String.EndsWith. String.Format is difficult to replace, but the inefficient string comparison methods are trivially optimized away.

22 Αυγ 2010 · If you want it as a nicely formatted string, use date.ToString(). This can also take a format parameter to control the formatting details, see MSDN docs for more info.
21 Μαΐ 2010 · Both String.Format and string concatenation are going to create new strings. Here's the deal, a string is immutable, it can not be changed. When you concat, you create a brand new string.
